Intra - Uterine Insemination (IUI)
IUI is one of the procedures used to treat infertility. In this process, washed sperms from the male partner (or from a sperm donor) are deposited into a woman’s uterus around the time of ovulation, through a fine catheter (tube) inserted through the cervix.
IUI is a relatively simple procedure as compared to other procedures like IVF or ICSI. However very few women may conceive within the first 3 attempts after which the chances for success decreases. Therefore, IUI treatment is usually recommended for a maximum of about 3 or 4 cycles.

Some IVF hospitals performs repeated IUI’s, in spite of the initial diagnosis & tests of the patient suggests IVF or ICSI, Repeated failed IUI’s may affect the fertility health of the patient thus reducing the chances of pregnancy.
Sperm Processing – Healthy semen Sample of husband is obtained & this Husband’s sperm sample goes through a special wash & processing which removes dead & defective sperms along with other unwanted substances.
Sperm Testing – Most centres performs an IUI without husband sperm health test hence their IUI fails, At Yashoda Ivf Centre, we perform a detail sperm test called SFA (Sperm Function Analysis) & Sperm DNA test in which sperm sample is studied in detail along with its genetic DNA, reports are generated as per guidelines of WHO (World Health Organization). If husband’s sperm health report shows that sperm count is low or sperm’s DNA health is far below normal then IUI is not advised but if sperm health is slightly below normal then maximum one or three IUIs can be performed before the infertility specialist suggest the couple other suitable procedure.
