In - Vitro Fertilization (IVF)

IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) is a procedure where the husband's sperm and wife's eggs are combined in a specialized incubator with the necessary nutrients. The aim is to facilitate the sperm's penetration into the egg, leading to the formation of an embryo.

At Yashoda Fertility & IVF Centre, the infertility specialist and embryologist assess the diagnostic and test reports of both the wife and husband. Based on individual factors, the embryologist determines whether IVF or ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) is suitable for the case.

Some IVF hospitals may continue to perform repeated IUIs (Intrauterine Insemination) despite indications for IVF or ICSI. However, multiple failed IUIs can negatively impact fertility health and reduce the chances of pregnancy.

IVF is recommended for various conditions, including:

  1. Damaged or blocked Fallopian tubes.

  2. Low sperm count, poor sperm motility, or blockage in the male reproductive system.

  3. Endometriosis, a condition where the uterine lining grows outside the uterus, affecting egg fertility and embryo implantation.

  4. Issues with egg production or release.

  5. Abnormalities in the uterus or cervix.

  6. Unexplained infertility.

Before the procedure, the husband's sperm sample is collected and frozen as a backup. This ensures the IVF cycle can proceed even if the husband is unable to provide a fresh sample on the day of the procedure due to work or emergency situations.

Sperm processing involves a special wash and processing technique to remove dead, defective, and unwanted substances from the sperm sample. At Yashoda Fertility & IVF Centre, comprehensive sperm tests, such as SFA (Sperm Function Analysis) and Sperm DNA testing, are conducted in accordance with WHO guidelines to assess sperm quality and genetic DNA.

To retrieve the wife's eggs, she undergoes injections and oral medications tailored to her diagnosis. After approximately 10-12 days, the mature eggs are retrieved from the wife's body.

Under sterile conditions, the embryologist performs IVF by combining the egg and sperm in a dish, resulting in embryo development.

The developed embryo is then transferred to the wife's uterus (Embryo Transfer) on day 2 to 3. The embryo continues to grow in the uterus, increasing the chances of a successful pregnancy.
